    Brent it was
No fiddle player that night. I recall that section was Brent. It was a beautiful first set but the sound that night was less than perfect.

Jerry's Tiger guitar did make sound effects
Doug Irwin made Jerry's Tiger guitar, which did make different sound effects. I'm almost certain Brent's Roland piano synthesizer made the fiddle sounds. Dan Healy was a great sound effect maker, too, while he was master of the soundboard. Check out the sounds from this excellent Ladner audience recording, especially during Scarlet > Fire and Estimated. https://archive.org/details/ gd870630.schoeps.ladner.8577.sbeok.shnf

Our first stop this week is the final show of a six show West Coast run, which included the Pacific Northwest shows in June of 1973. From the final night of a three night run at Universal Amphitheatre in LA on 7/1/73, where we have this great batch of music: El Paso ; Loose Lucy ; Truckin'> Drums > The Other One > Wharf Rat > Me And Bobby McGee; Casey Jones.

Next up is the end of the show from the final night of the comeback tour in June 1976, from 6/29/76 in Chicago, where we have Saint Stephen> Not Fade Away > Saint Stephen; One More Saturday Night, US Blues.

Lastly this week is first set music from 6/30/87 at Canada’s Wonderland, just north of Toronto. This is from the only vault master of this great show, and as you’ll hear, it’s not one of the better sounding tapes in the vault, but the music sure does shine through: New Minglewood Blues; Candyman ; Far From Me; Mama Tried > Big River.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

DeadBase has no mention of a guest violin player, therefore your suggestion of Brent being playful seems to be right: his keyboard must've had the capability to sound like a fiddle.

Could be a guitar/MIDI effect, but it sure sounds real to me.
