Tapers Section By David Lemieux

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1969, 1988, and 1990.

Our first selection is from the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, CA, on 6/27/69, where we have Slewfoot, Mama Tried> High Time, Dupree's Diamond Blues, Me And My Uncle, Jam > Casey Jones, Dire Wolf, Sittin’ On Top Of The World > Big Boss Man.

Next is music from 6/25/88, the Dead’s first visit to Buckeye Lake Music Center in Ohio, where we have the start of the second set: Victim Or The Crime ; Blow Away ; Foolish Heart > Terrapin Station. This featured three of the brand new songs, debuted in the tour’s first week, to open this set.

Lastly this week is the terrific first set from the 6/23/90 show at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, OR, where the Dead played two shows, with opening act Little Feat starting at noon. Feel Like A Stranger ; West L.A. Fadeaway ; Me And My Uncle > Cumberland Blues ; Far From Me ; They Love Each Other ; Cassidy ; Tennessee Jed > The Promised Land.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

It was HOT in Hebron

Couldn't keep the Heinekens cold at Buckeye! Bruce Hornsby & the Range opened, then Bruce was invited back out for Sugaree and Memphis Blues, dazzling the crowd with his accordion. This 2nd set feature sure sounds like a FOB audience, or Healy mixed-in some audience sound (Ultramix?)
