Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1971, 1979, and 1985, two selections from Western NY, and one from home in San Francisco.
Our first selection this week is from 11/6/71 at the Harding Theatre in San Francisco, where we have this nice batch of classic 1971 Dead: Mexicali Blues ; Sing Me Back Home ; One More Saturday Night , Ramble On Rose, Bobby McGee.
Next is the entire first from 11/9/79 at the Aud in Buffalo, NY, where we have this great batch of early-Brent music: Alabama Getaway > The Promised Land; They Love Each Other ; Cassidy; Loser; Lazy Lightnin'> Supplication; Althea; Easy To Love You ; Jack Straw.
Lastly this week is another Western NY first set, from 11/7/85 in Rochester, NY, the opening set from a terrific two night run at the War Memorial, the Dead’s last shows there: Dancing In The Street ; Dire Wolf ; C C Rider ; Loser ; Mama Tried > Mexicali Blues ; Cumberland Blues ; Beat It On Down The Line ; Deal.
Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.
I too was at these couple of nights in Rochester. It's nice to hear the show here and the following night as this week's "jam of the week". Wish these two nights would be officially released.
Chilly night in Rochester. Some friends missed their flight so I was able to hand off their tickets to a couple of seekers. I did not have any paper to write on so I kept track of the set list on a balloon. The show was pretty good-I liked the Cumberland. The next night I got scalped trying to get tickets for my friends who finally showed up. They were counterfeit and I had the pleasure of seeing the guy who sold them to us get busted outside the arena.
