The 12/13/80 segment is indeed great, but Scarlet Begonias is horribly truncated. It cuts in right before "the sky was yellow and the sun was blue". Well worth a listen, though

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have music from 1979, 1980 and 1989, three fine years in Grateful Dead history.

Our first selection is the long pre-Drums sequence before Drums on 12/11/79 in Kansas City, featuring Shakedown Street > Samson And Delilah ; Ship Of Fools; Terrapin Station > Lost Sailor, Saint Of Circumstance This is a rare Sailor/Saint combination that is not a segue from the first song to the second. Neat-o.

Next is another pre-Drums sequence, this from 12/13/80 in Long Beach, featuring Scarlet Begonias>Fire On The Mountain>Playing In The Band. After the Radio City shows, the last of which was 10/31/80, the band embarked on a long stretch of excellent playing.

Lastly this week is the first set from the last-ever Grateful Dead show at the Great Western Forum in Inglewood, CA, on 12/10/89, featuring Hell In A Bucket ; Sugaree; We Can Run ; When I Paint My Masterpiece ; Loser ; Victim Or The Crime ; C C Rider ; I'm A Man. Those last couple of songs include Spencer Davis.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.
