Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music from the final 15 years of Grateful Dead history, 1980, 1982 and 1991.
Our first selection is from the Grateful Dead's first appearance at Pine Knob Music Theater in Clarkston, Michigan on 8/27/80, featuring the end of the second set: Not Fade Away>Stella Blue>I Need A Miracle>Bertha>Good Lovin'. I was fortunate to see the Dead at Pine Knob in 1991, and thought it was a great place that sounded pretty good.
Next up is music from Manor Downs in Austin, Texas on 7/31/82, featuring the start of the second set, Scarlet Begonias>Fire On The Mountain. This is the Dead's third visit of their five trips to Manor Downs, with the others being in 1977, 1981, 1983 and 1985.
Our last stop this week is on 6/16/91 at Giants Stadium, the first of two excellent nights at the Meadowlands. From this night, we have portion of the first set featuring Little Red Rooster ; Candyman ; Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again ; Stagger Lee. This summer tour featured plenty of great music, largely owing to Bruce's terrific contributions on piano. Deer Creek, RFK, Giants, Pine Knob, Chicago, and on and on, there was some excellent music played in 1991.
