Just like your favorite jam, things are going to get a bit funky on Dead.net over the next week or so. Community accounts will be temporarily closed October 16th-17th and may be under further maintenance through October 22nd. But rest assured, we will be back up and better than ever shortly thereafter. Stay tuned!
October 02 - October 08, 2017
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1975, 1981 and 1987.
Our first selection this week is the big jam sequence from the fourth and final show of 1975, in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, which was released as part of the 30 Trips Around The Sun box set in 2015. From this very cool show, we have Truckin' > Jam > Drums > Stronger Than Dirt Or Milkin' The Turkey > Not Fade Away > Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad > One More Saturday Night.
Next is the end of the first set from the first night of a short, three show tour just before the Dead started their Europe 81 Fall Tour on 9/30 in Scotland. From Bethlehem, PA, on 9/25/81, we have Bird Song> Beat It On Down The Line; Cumberland Blues ; Passenger ; Althea ; The Music Never Stopped.
Lastly this week, we have the start of the first set at the final show of a five night at Madison Square Garden, on 9/20/87, featuring Jack Straw> West L.A. Fadeaway; My Brother Esau ; Far From Me ; It Must Have Been The Roses; Desolation Row. This is the third-to-last My Brother Esau, a song I greatly missed from the repertoire after they dropped it.
Be sure to stop by next week for more music from the vault.
