Grateful Dead

Just like your favorite jam, things are going to get a bit funky on Dead.net over the next week or so. Community accounts will be temporarily closed October 16th-17th and may be under further maintenance through October 22nd. But rest assured, we will be back up and better than ever shortly thereafter. Stay tuned! Thanks!

Tapers Section By David Lemieux

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have music from 1968, 1972, and 1991.

Our first stop this week is at the Fillmore West in San Francisco on 8/21/68, where we have this terrific Live/Dead sequence of Dark Star > Saint Stephen > The Eleven> Death Don't Have No Mercy.

Next up is music from the 3rd night of a four night run at the Berkeley Community Theatre in Berkeley, CA, on 8/24/72, where we have this great sequence of The Promised Land ; Sugaree, Jack Straw, China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider; Me And My Uncle ; Bird Song.

Lastly this week, after music from SF and the East Bay, we’ll head to the South Bay for the end of the show on 8/18/91 at Shoreline, where we have China Doll > Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad > Throwing Stones > Not Fade Away, Brokedown Palace.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

Crazy Keys during the Dark Star by Pigpen. I wonder how long the lovelight was to close the set.
