    Phil WAS in Buffalo...
Phil is absent from the mix for the same reason that Phil is absent from almost all soundboards between 1980 and 1985 - he didn't like Healy's mix (especially compared to Betty's) and did his own, and by-passed the soundboard. I was at this Buffalo show too, and Phil was loud and hot often in this show. I remember YUGE Phil-bombs during Bertha, for example. Blame the thin mix on Healy, not Phil. I agree with the 'general Jerry decline' comment, but he could still fake it pretty good in '81 - his voice didn't really go 'til the next year...

    nice...
...I was at the Rochester and Buffalo shows. Rochester was uncharacteristically energetic for '76, and was quite a special evening, particularly the whole Slipknot sandwich. Buffalo was also fun, with more focus than much of the '81 tour, which for me was notable for the general absence of Phil from the mix (or from showing much interest in the whole affair), and more frequent signs of Jerry's general decline......

Our first stop is on 9/27/76 in Rochester, NY, where we have this terrific second set featuring Might As Well, Samson And Delilah, Help On The Way [4:54] > Slipknot!> Drums > The Other One> Wharf Rat > Slipknot!> Franklin's Tower> Around And Around. The last song cuts off on the master reel, but otherwise this PA board tape sounds really good.

From five years later and just a little down the road in Buffalo, NY, on 9/26/81, we have the end of the second set, featuring Space > Not Fade Away> Morning Dew > Playing In The Band > One More Saturday Night.

We hope you don’t mind a second Morning Dew this week, as we have the end of the show from 9/12/87 in Landover, MD, featuring Space > Truckin'> I Need A Miracle > Morning Dew>Turn On Your Lovelight, OMSN, Black Muddy River.

Be sure to stop by next week for more music from the vault.
