Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1971, 1982, and 1989.
Our first selection is from 8/4/71, when the Dead visited the Terminal Island Correctional Facility near Los Angeles to play a free concert. Not much is know about this show, but this is where Bear was incarcerated, so presumably the Dead were there to visit, and play for their friend. From this interesting show, we have the end of the concert: Not Fade Away > Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad > Turn On Your Lovelight.
From the start of the second set on 8/8/82 at Alpine Valley, we have Far From Me, Scarlet Begonias>Fire On The Mountain, including a rare Brent song to open the set.
Lastly this week is the start of the first set from 8/4/89 at Cal Expo in Sacramento, where we have Bertha ; Greatest Story Ever Told ; Althea ; Mama Tried ; Mexicali Blues ; Never Trust A Woman.
Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.
