One thing about the convergence of the Grateful Dead and technology--there are lots and lots of podcasts and local radio shows about the band, the community, the music...
Tell us about yours!
St. Louis has a strong community of deadheads and are lucky enough to be home to a few fantastic, long-time treasured Dead cover bands - Jakes Leg, The Schwag. The local independent radio station here is KDHX, and they have an awesome Dead/ Jam-oriented show on Tuesdays from 12-2:00 hosted by the one and only Drea: http://kdhx.org/shows/show/otherone.
My local community radio station WMNF.org is their web address located in Tampa, every Tuesday night from 6 to 8PM its the Freak Show Deadhead Ed LOVES the Dead plays lots of GD and at 7PM always plays an extended live track he's been on the air in this timeslot for over 30 years check it out fellow Deadheads.
I keep a list on my KoHoSo.us website of what I think are the best English language radio stations. These are ones that have a Grateful Dead or Dead-related radio program.
Before the list, let provide the caution that all of these are from non-commercial college or community radio stations. Any could change schedule or disappear at any time. While I will provide the link to each station's home page, be aware many of these outlets are often not good at posting timely updates of their schedules. I have also included the non-commercial stations that run "The Grateful Dead Hour."

KPFA Berkeley's Dead To The World is still going strong Wed. nights from 8-10pm Cali time. It's on 94.1 FM in the greater Bay Area, 88.1 FM in the Central Valley, 97.5 FM in Santa Cruz, and http://kpfa.org everywhere. Tim Lynch took the reins from David Gans full time three years ago (after co-hosting the show for a long time). It's usually GD in the first hour and a mix of jam, grass, groove, and Americana in the second hour, with live acts on the air as often as possible.
I stumbled onto Endless Boundaries Jam Radio a few years ago. It's a four-hour replay of a lcoal radio show in the NJ suburbs of Philadelphia. The hosts do a great job of weaving classic Grateful Dead jams into reggae, world music, jam bands, classic jams, and all kinds of fusion angles from jazz-rock to folk-roots. https://www.facebook.com/EBJamRadio/
Unique mix spinning around the Music of the Grateful Dead along with other Jam Bands, Rock"n"Roll, Folk Rock, Electric Blues and other sweet sounds. Mostly live, Deadhead friendly this is NOT a "classic rock" station. NO same old stuff or hairband noise anywhere. http://truckin-withthedead.playtheradio.com/
