HDCD Player

Honestly, get an Oppo blu-ray universal player.
You will be able to play blu-ray and DVD... but most importantly it's the best way to play CD and HDCD, but also SACD and DVD-Audio.

If you only want HDCD you're probably best to just play the CD on a home computer with quality speakers.
You can learn about HDCD here.

but even something like a Yamaha S300 CD player is $300...
So at that rate, you may as well just go with the Oppo universal player.

My Dad's Grateful Dead Collection

Hi all - I've just joined this site, as sadly by father passed away in January and he has the most HUGE G Dead collection of CD, Vinyl, Books, Tapes, Magazines, Bootlegs..... I have no idea the worth of things - I'm purely going by the interest generated on ebay. However, it is a shame to let anything go - when I know how much you Dead Head's love to collect. I wanted to put a shout out to see if there is anything in particular people are looking out for... Jess x

Greetings and a question about HDCD

Hello all! I'm glad to have found this site; there's so much cool info here!
I've recently acquired Winterland 1973, and I'm noticing it is HDCD. I've been looking around, trying to find an HDCD player, and I cannot for the life of me find anything. When I search, I get results for Blu-ray players! Am I so backwards that I have not integrated my music player with my Blu-ray player?
So, I ask of you... are there CD players that render HDCD, or do I need to go with a Blu-ray player?
Finally, do you have any suggestions for either/both option/s?
Thank you, and I look forward to meeting some of you!

Hi From the Mtns of NC

Hi All!
Happy Thanksgiving.
I'm new to this forum - have been a Dead head as far back as forever ago.
Being from Long Island we got to see several shows locally each year, so
I didn't do much traveling for concerts.
There was The Garden in NYC, Jersey City - outside, Nassau Colosseum,
And other places close enough.

The greatest thing was that the concerts were ALL at least 6 hr. long!
What an awesome time.

I've done my share of twirling, drums & Space and enjoyed it all.

I remember so well the huge Wall of speakers they'd set up AND the
Drum wall - Always so fun seeing the Dead - live!

Nothing but the best memories of the guys - as musicians who just plain
flat out LOVED to play and play and all the improvisation making every show

They'd start a song - jam in the middle a bunch and come back and finish the song and
It would always be like - 'OH YEAH - That's the song we're on' haha!

I'm very happy to have found this place to read others stories

I did go to Watkins Glen - w/ the Band and Allmans - that was quite a trip!

Have FUN...beautiful people
