    Panhandle shows
Does anyone know if this show on April 9, 1967 was the only time the Dead played in the panhandle?

    First Time seeing the Dead
Having heard of the Dead from John Sinclair, while living in Detriotat the Artist Workshop. This Alaskan kid (17 yr. old) had hitch hiked to the Haight from Detriot and was crashing in golden gate park. The diggers would give out free food in the panhandle and the street rumor had it that there was music with the food down in the panhandle park. It seems that the music (Dead) had just sorta showed up and the people were groovin' to it. Heard the band was playing at the Longshoreman's later that night, and was determined to go to the later show too. Got turned on to some of Owsley's "White Lightning" tabs in the panhandle and the rest is sorta a blur.......
