Smokin' show, home state, a lot of my fav songs;alas, for me it would never be the same w/out Brent.Thank god for Bruce, cause WTF were they thinking; Vince?the Tubes? Nice run, but the thrill was gone.(of course they were still better than any other band!)

I am so surprised that there are not a ton of posts on this show! I was not at this show but I think that the 2nd Set is one of the best sets ever by the Dead. And, I am simply amazed that there is not more recognition for this set and the very fine, very high, and flawless right on playing of Set 2. After listening to the whole show, it seems Jerry had some kind of awakening during intermission and the 2nd Set sounds like a totally new band and new energy! (1st set was hit and miss and Jerry butchered Loose Lucy) The China > Rider simply shreds - my favorite version (even against some of the 70's versions). LL Rain - Jerry's guitar is the sweetest I have ever heard it - probably the best LL Rain too! Aiko - Jerry just plays the hell out this song adding an extra verse and just jamming it to death - my favorite Aiko ever! And then...... The DARK STAR is by far (IMO) the best, sweetest, smoothest, jazziest Dark Star they ever played. I am so surprised it has not been released somewhere along the way. Jerry plays the Dark Star melody in every sweet way imaginable! It is very high and totally spiritual. I am moved to tears with every listen. And to boot, an incredible Terrapin our of Dark Star before drums making this a rare 3-fer for Jerry (Aiko, Dark Star > Terrapin >) Totally amazing! Post Drums is also amazingly played and flawless! I already sent Dave Lemieux an e-mail asking him to please post some of this show in the tapers section when Dec comes around. I highly, highly, recommend tracking down a copy of this asap! I know there are digital boards of this out there because I have one on DAT. (^_^) With Light, Brother "A"

My friend and I were lazing about in the walkway just up off the floor behind the taper section in-between sets when a fairly straight looking couple was walking up and we caught each other's eyes. They proceeded to propose that we trade stubs with them so that we could take their second row seats for the second set. This concept took a little while to work its way through our fuzzy brains. "You want to give us your second row seats?" "Yup." "The catch?" "No catch, it's too loud down there for us." "We have no idea where our actual seats may be, we're just hanging out here." "No problem." So it was that we saw a sweet second set in the second row right in front of Phil. I still have a very clear visual memory of Phil stepping up to the mike for his verse in "The Weight". Beautiful stuff. That was one of maybe 3 times that I had an assigned seat inside of 10 rows. There were many shows that I didn't hardly see the band (short dude on the back of the floor, or hall speakers and such) but it was cool to see it from so close a few times.

Thank you Grateful Dead for permanently altering me for the better. May I remember this night until my dying day. ~ Michael

It was the good old Dead, playing Dark Star live. with the sounds they has arranged Those beautiful, transcedental notes that had been writen on my head were for the first time being played before me. God! I Love The Grateful Dead! So thanks Boys for one of the best nights of my life. I wish I could repay. It won't do it justice, but I'll tell you right now, That show Fucking blew me away"

My first Dead show, a classic. My wife (still married) and I were stone cold sober for this show, poor as we were. An amazing show. 2nd set blew my mind. I was converted permanently. Looking for my original ticket stubs. Still can't believe it's been 20 years now.

Any one have recording from Hot Tuna at Mishawaka Amphitheatre? Same time....
