    My only sober show.
Some kid from school was supposedly cousins with Bob Weir and whatever it was...he got us tickets for a van load of kids to roll to Hartford from Winchendon in central Mass. By some simple twist of fate, only the deadhead kids and their friends got "selected" for the trip. One of the teachers drove us down and was like ..."I haven't seen the Dead since '83...I hope they play St. Stephen". No such luck, but this show was epic....many highlights from the opener to Music Never Stopped, Cumberland Blues and the very powerful Terrapin> Drums>Space>Uncle Johns>Morning Dew!!!!!!! Seriously. What more could you ask for? My sobriety was a choice based on my paranoia about the administrative scrutiny at school...but luckily my friends got us well stocked for the next round in Worcester....

My friends & I will always remember this show as "the night Jerry danced." Not sure what got into Garcia that night but he pulled off the best "Touch of Grey" ever and did a little jig to boot. If you listen to the audience tapes, all you hear during "Touch" IS audience. Man, what a night! "Music Never Stopped", "Cumberland", "Eyes" ...

That Touch was spectacular. I love my audience recording of that. The crowd is roaring..... I was about 10-15 rows back, right in front of the stage. You could feel the blast of love.

This was part of the first tour after Jerry's coma. When Jerry raised his arm in the air during the final chorus, Everybody in the audience went wild.
