Was this the first time in a while that Phil helped sing on Cold Rain and Snow? What a fun show in front of a very small crowd on some spectacular mushrooms and peyote. Jerry looked pretty awful and pale these two days facing the sun and looking like he was going to keel over at any time. Fantastic encore!

Hot shows with fresh roses everywhere around stage etc..

We celebrated his 40th....I think. And the huge storm that rolled through was scarey. Roadies climbing scaffolds and lying on tarps covering speakers for protection. Rainbow into the Other One was the best visual eva at a Dead show for me. A wonderful two daze in the desert before Santa Fe got ruined. Security in turbins....firewerks at La Noche de Zazobra! The Inn at Loredo! The Pink Adobe with the crew getting smashed! Desert ratz! OH MY!

I met some friends before a recent Phil show and they had been discussing on the car ride what their favorite Dead show experience was. Not the show itself, but the best overall experience. They asked me what mine was and I thought for about 30 seconds and said these 2 Santa Fe shows were probably the best experience. They were shocked because one of the people in their car had said the same thing about a 1/2 hour earlier. I had never met this person, either. There was just something magical about these days. I remember pulling into the lot and buying our tickets and camping fee right there the day before the show. I think this was the last time I saw this happening. came up to my house in phx, picked up 3 more in tempe, hit the road in true thompsonesque style, gonzo lines off of buckknives,cooler full of brew and skunkygalore drove all night, dude from tempe dosed my beer waiting to get into day1 show, musta been the roses, they were everywhere. santa fe was cool too,turquious blue sky,whitewash pueblo type architecture, big square in the middle of downtown, cobblestone streets and about 15 people in our hotel room next morning:))) good times

1st and only time I ever got a backstage. My friend was dating a tree surgeon who had worked for Phil in San Rafael. Got to hang out a bit with Phil who introduced us to Bobby Peterson (lyricist of Unbroken Chain, and Pride of Cucamonga)....He was all jazzed because he had arranged an FM simulcast of the shows for the New Mexico State Prison...he got a big kick out of negotiating the deal with the warden, who had no idea that Bobby P. had actually spent time there many years back. At least thats how I remember it...that and Jerry just dodging all the backstage hanger ons to make a beeline to his trailer...

Ok, maybe this was the show with all the drunkin' injuns....it was amazing..i've never seen such an influx of barfoids at a campground experience, ever. they were having fun, tho. keep your character, enjoy living, share your fortune, OXOX Merple Reddin

so mellow, security were Sikhs thanking us for being there...small crowd, went right up to the stage, could have touched Jerry's foot if I wanted to...desert rainbow behind the band...outdoor shows are the best...

Huge storms!Jerry looked really sick...this began the yellowish look that he carried for the next few years. I remember that it made us all question how much longer the band could continue. Manor Downs was a cool horse rack track.

This was an amazing show. Opening with a startling Music Never Stops. Phenomenal Cumberland, ending with Phil stepping up to the mike and singing the corus of Cold Rain And snow.I was told Phil hadn't sung in years.

September 10-11, 1983 were my two favorite Grateful Dead concerts of the 80s. But then there was the New Years run of 81-82 , and I can’t forget Ventura 87,, now wait what about .

1983 was my first full year living in New Mexico after several years in Montana. To be able to roll down the Rio Grande from the home place north of Taos to see the Dead outside the city indifferent was joyous celebration. Rode with Turbo Tom who had driven down from the Blackfeet Rez. This was life with conviction and passion. The way it should be
