This has been puzzling me for a while, but I'm pretty sure Around and Around was played that night late in the second set because I distinctly remember sitting down throughout this whole show, and I didn't know too many Dead songs, but I recognized this one and when Bobby shouted out 'rose out of my seat just had to dance' I spontaneously jumped out of my seat and started dancing, and I finished the show that way. Although I had spent my childhood taking dance classes, as an adolescent I had become really inhibited and didn't dance, couldn't learn the Hustle, was awkward, etc, just frozen dancewise, and it was at that moment that Bobby and the Dead set my dance spirit free, and I turned to my boyfriend and said, I like this band. I'm going to see them again. The discovery of the joy of dancing in the hall would have to wait until the next show, and that experience changed my life forever as I bonded with my fellow heads. Does anyone have a hand written setlist for this show? Every list I've seen on the Web follows this one. Could I have dreamt it all? I don't think I even knew the Dead did Around and Around and I remember thinking, good, I know this song. Anyway, just my 2 cents for what it's worth because I'm pretty sure it happened that way.

Have been on a kick of 1982 in the last month or so. I never get enough of these guys. This night was my very 1st time in NYC. Having done the spring and summer tour of 82 this is my time frame. I remember clearly asking many in my home town to come along on the rest of the tour after Boston Garden show. In a way am glad was alone got to see everything I wanted to, This is one super hot show that's for sure. Loved the set list and insanity of it all. I was for sure taken aback by the size of the city and probably overwhelmed also. I would drive outside the city to sleep in a rest area ,wake and head right back to the city for the day. I did all of this is my parents dodge Omni. Had told family was going to umass for few days to visit friends little did they know I was off on tour racking up the miles and never calling home. After these 2 shows was heading off to New haven when some heads asked I had room in my car, of course I did I was solo to that point. We did the New Haven show and off to Syracuse carrier dome. Man those were the days. I wound up driving back after the last show on tour debating my life in my head. Go off to collage and play Hockey or go on tour. We all know which I chose otherwise wouldn't be writing this. My dad use to always say "he would be greatful if they were dead" Now he is a very happy father of a son who has been sober for many many many years now. having gone to spoford hall in fall of 89. Missed the infamous Hampton Warlocks shows. And most of everything after that. On one of the parent visits at spoford my mom came up and told me the Dead had played Dark Star and Attics of my life. She never listened to the band but had a co-worker who had gone on tour and was feeding her the set lists. Thank God for a wonderful caring family and all the great years of following these guys everywhere. Wound up seeing 476 Dead shows and well over 200 Garcia shows. Sorry for the ramble. I took the woman (19 yo) I eventually married to this show. It was our first "date". The crowd reaction when the boys came out was deafening. Phil had the Garden rumbling during Shakedown. At intermission I wanted to show her around, so I took her all over the Garden and we wound up by the campers - rows of back packs and what-not. The twirlers had made their way their as well and my future wife wouldn't let go of my hand as we made our way through the crowd. It was cool seeing her experience the scene. The marriage didn't last but we brought 4 beautiful kids (and now 1 grandchild) into the world.
