College Fun
All my buds went to this show, most for their first time. I mostly remember the Let It Grow...when Bob yelled "I am"...let me tell you, "I Was".!! It was my first Touch, and they had the "20 Years so Far" backdrop working...it was cool. Poor Artie, he got so drunk he missed the whole damn show...I didn't like the Gimme Some, never really have liked it, except for Brent, who always ruled, IMHO.
His job is to shed light, not to master.
First show
The only songs I knew at the time were the cover tunes, but that didn't stop me from losing my voice to every song. Definitely regretted not getting tixs for the next night.
GDTS
If I'm not mistaken this might have been the first year for Grateful Dead Ticket Sales mail order tickets. I had an extra for the first night 11/7. I found a young lady who needed one but she was very skeptical about buying it as the GDTS tickets didn't look anything like the regular Ticketron stubs- in fact they were often works of art in comparison... raised printing, glitter, and often some quasi-holographic-like features. So she and her boyfriend thought they might be counterfeit. Understandable. After some debate (most of her friends also thought they might be fake as well but she was clearly on the fence, she wanted to give me benefit of the doubt, but didn't want to get burned, but here I was offering it at face value- so enticing... there had to be a catch!) I offered to accompany them all into the venue, in fact I would lead the way. If I got turned away then I would give her money back. Needless to say we all got in, and I bid them farewell.
