Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1971, 1977 and 1993.
Our first selection is from Iowa City on 3/20/71. My this time, Mickey had been absent from the Dead for about a month, and the band had settled into the groove of the five piece original lineup that would carry them through to 8/26/71, after which time Keith would join the band. From Iowa City, we have the end of the show, featuring Casey Jones, Sugar Magnolia, Around And Around ,Uncle John's Band, Turn On Your Lovelight.
From six years later on 3/19/77 at Winterland, we have the second set jam of Eyes Of The World > Space > Dancing In The Street > Wharf Rat > Franklin's Tower > Sugar Magnolia. In typical 1977 fashion, this was a very unique sequence of songs, never to be repeated.
Lastly this week, from 3/11/93, we have the end of the second set, including a special appearance by Ken Nordine to start things out, with a sequence of Flibberty Jib On The Bippity Bop > The Island > Space > The Other One > Days Between > Around And Around.
Be sure to join us here next week with more music from the vault.
