I gotta know right now... That deal with the devil didn't last long...I have no phone! Guess who just got back today? Those wild-eyed boys that had been away Haven't changed, haven't much to say But man, I still think those cats are great They were asking if you were around How you was, where you could be found I told them you were living downtown Driving all the old men crazy The boys are back in town You know the chick that used to dance a lot Every night she'd be on the floor shaking what she'd got Man when I tell you she was cool, she was red hot I mean she was steaming That night over at Johnny's place Well this chick got up and she slapped Johnny's face Man we just fell about the place If that chick don't want to know, forget her Friday night they'll be dressed to kill Down at Dino's bar and grill The drink will flow and blood will spill If the boys want to fight, you'd better let them That jukebox in the corner blasting out my favorite song The nights are getting warmer, it won't be long It won't be long till summer comes Now that the boys are here again The boys are back in town This day is taking forever! Even though Im staying busy... Ever heard of Jake's Leg? They are a Dead tribute band that are opening up the show. And on another note, have you ever heard of "Rare Visions and Roadside Revelations"?

OK, here we go, we got a real pressure cooker going hereTwo down, nobody on, no score, bottom of the ninth There's the windup, and there it is, a line shot up the middle Look at him go. This boy can really fly! He's rounding first and really Turning it on now, he's not letting up at all, he's gonna try for Second; the ball is bobbled out in center, and here comes the Throw, and what a throw! He's gonna slide in head first, here he Comes, he's out! No, wait, safe-safe at second base, this kid Really makes things happen out there. Batter steps up to the Plate, here's the pitch-he's going, and what a jump he's got He's trying for third, here's the throw, it's in the dirt-safe at Third! Holy cow, stolen base! He's taking a pretty big lead out There, almost daring him to try and pick him off. The pitcher Glances over, winds up, and it's bunted, bunted down the third Base line, the suicide squeeze is on! Here he comes, squeeze Play, it's gonna be close, holy cow, I think he's gonna make it!

This was a nice impromptu tribute to The City of Nouveau Orleans around the anniversary of the devestation of Katrina. Man, do you know what it means to miss New Orleans Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans And miss it each night and day I know I’m not wrong, this feeling's gettin' stronger The longer, I stay away Miss them moss covered vines, the tall sugar pines Where mockin' birds used to sing And I'd like to see that lazy Mississippi Hurryin' into spring Oh the moonlight on the bayou A creole tune that fills the air I dream about Magnolias in bloom And I'm wishin' I was there Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans Since that's where you left your heart And there's something more, I miss the one I care for More than I miss New Orleans

beautiful song selection, makes me weak in the knees..... Poco's music was overlooked at times, especially when they went mainstream.....those songs hold the test of time though...... This time I'm walkin' to New Orleans I'm walkin' to New Orleans I'm gonna need two pair-a shoes When I get through walkin' these blues When I get back to New Orleans I've got my suitcase in my hand Now ain't that-a shame? I'm leavin' here today Yes, I'm goin' back home to stay Yes, I'm walkin' to New Orleans Ya used to be my honey 'Till you spent all my money No use for you to cry I'll see you by and by 'Cause I'm walkin' to New Orleans I've got no time for talkin' I've got to keep on walkin' New Orleans is my home That's the reason why I'm goin' Yes, I'm walkin' to New Orleans I'm walkin' to New Orleans I'm walkin' to New Orleans I'm walkin' to New Orleans.

I can only imagine...I've watched many a PBS special on the subject with interviews of residents still trying to pick up the pieces. There is something different in the air down there... I need to make it there at some point... In the heart of the night In the cool southern rain There's a full moon in sight Shining down on the Pontchartrain And the river she rises Just like she used to do She's so full of surprises She reminds me of you In the heart of the night In the heart of the night In the heart of the night Oh, whoa, down in New Orleans There's a night bird singing Right on through till the dawn And the streets are still ringing With people carrying on It's been so long waiting Just to be here again Anticipating All the time I could spend In the heart of the night In the heart of the night In the heart of the night And I trust in your love never falling down I trust in your love Just like I do in this town Whoa, never falling down Whoa, never falling down In the heart of the night In the cool fallin' rain There's a full moon in sight Shining down on the Pontchartrain And the river she rises Just like she used to do She's so full of surprises Oh, momma, she reminds me of you Right here, in the heart of the night In the heart of the night In the heart of the night Down in New Orleans And I'm so glad to be back in New Orleans Please don't wake me, don't shake me If it's only, if it's only just a dream It's the only place I can face that feels so right Below that Dixie moon and loving you In the heart of the night

2013 did a trip to the big easy, used public transportation....trollies and buses to navigate the city. Did the NO Jazz Festival as well as Garden District, Bourbon and Frenchmen Streets.....and some bad ass swamp tour in a hydroplane.... Took a bus to the 9th Ward over the objections of the driver....saw the tragedy and devastation at that time 8 years Katrina removed. it wasn't racism, it was anger and frustration over having lost their life's memories....that will stay with me forever..... Ridin' on the City of New Orleans Illinois Central Monday morning rail Fifteen cars and fifteen restless riders Three conductors and twenty-five sacks of mail All along the southbound odyssey the train pulls out of Kankakee And rolls along past houses farms and fields Passing trains that have no name and freight yards full of old black men And the graveyards of the rusted automobiles Good morning, America. How are you? Say, don't you know me? I'm your native son I'm the train they call the City of New Orleans And I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done Dealin' cards with the old men in the club car Penny a point, ain't no one keepin' score Pass the paper bag that holds the bottle And feel the wheels rumbling 'neath the floor And the sons of Pullman porters and the sons of engineers Ride their fathers' magic carpet made of steel Mothers with their babes asleep rockin' to the gentle beat And the rhythm of the rails is all they feel Good morning, America. How are you? Say, don't you know me? I'm your native son I'm the train they call the City of New Orleans And I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done Night time on the City of New Orleans changing cars in Memphis Tennessee Halfway home we'll be there by morning Through the Mississippi darkness rolling down to the sea And all the towns and people seem to fade into a bad dream And the steel rails still ain't heard the news The conductor sings his songs again the passengers will please refrain This train has got the disappearing railroad blues Good morning, America. How are you? Say, don't you know me? I'm your native son I'm the train they call the City of New Orleans I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done I am going back.....best weeks vacation spent.....ever......

    @ The Hood...
It is a bit unrealistic...Ive been through most of the different hoods around the city, during the day and night and wasn't afraid. Been to funerals deep in the hood where I was the only caucasian. Been in and around East St. Louis AKA East Boogie without issue. However, some friends and I received a police escort out of South Chicago when we got lost searching for hotdogs and pizza. Kept tellin the driver to stop heading south...We got out to go get the food and the shop owners looked at us like what the hell are you doing here. When we returned to the car witht he food we were rushed by a group of plain-clothed officers with their guns drawn. We put our hands full of plates of food in the air... They were like you gotta get out of here, follow us... Ten damn days And all I got to show for it is shoes and shows and chauffeurs with road rage Still the same damn ad-lib: IGH!, always Still gotta letterman, no practice Still gotta burner man, no lacking Still outtin Jams nigga, no Jackson No Jordan and we toe-tagging I'll take you to land, where the lake made of sand And the milk don't pour and the honey don't dance And the money ain't yours Now it's just a red pill, Got a blue and a hand full of Advils I'm the new Nitty, fuck it Nitty the the old me So I'm a tell the buyer what Nitty told me [Hook 1:] I got that Mmm Mmm I got that God damn I'm yo pusha man I'm yo, I'm yo pusha man Pimp slapping, toe taggin I'm just tryna fight the man I'm yo pusha man I'm yo, I'm yo pusha man [x2] [Verse 2:] You a laaaaaaaame, and your bitch break down my weed sometimes See my face in the streets, in the tweets And a Reader or a Redeye if you read Sun-Times She got blisters on her knees, she's a fiend for the D Even though I only beat one time One time it was one two times It was two plus me equals threesome time Shouts out to Nate, I jackball and I bop, I flex Got neck from all these thots I sex Rastafari them shottas yes House safari, mi casa, yes Poppy fields of that popeye She came to party, she popped a Molly Said "come to papa", she said "papa, yes" [Hook 1] [Hook 2:] I've been riding around with my blunt on my lips With the sun in my eyes, and my gun on my hip Paranoia on my mind, got my mind on the fritz But a lotta niggas dying, so my 9 with the shits [x2] [Verse 3:] Move to the neighborhood, I bet they don't stay for good, watch Somebody'll steal daddy's rollie, and call it the neighborhood watch Pray for a safer hood when my paper good, watch Captain save the hood, hood savior, baby boy, still get ID'd for swishers Mama still wash my clothes, still with Save Money militia I'm a still watch my bros Trapped in the middle of the map, with a little bitty rock And a little bit of rap That with a literary knack and a little shitty Mac And like literally jack [Hook 2] [Verse 4:] They murking kids, they murder kids here Why you think they don't talk about it? They deserted us here Where the fuck is Matt Lauer at? Somebody get Katie Couric in here Probably scared of all the refugees, look like we had a fucking hurricane here They be shooting whether it's dark or not, I mean the days is pretty dark a lot Down here it's easier to find a gun than it is to find a fucking parking spot No love for the opposition, specifically a cop position, Cause they've never been in our position Getting violations for the nation, correlating, you dry snitching [Hook 2] [Breakdown:] I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared, too. I know you scared, me too. I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared, too. If you was there, then we just knew you'd care, too. [Verse 5:] It just got warm out, this this shit I've been warned about. I hope that it storm in the morning, I hope that it's pouring out. I hate crowded beaches, I hate the sound of fireworks. And I ponder what's worse between knowing it's over and dying first. Cause everybody dies in the summer. Wanna say ya goodbyes, tell them while it's spring. I heard everybody's dying in the summer, so pray to God for a little more spring. I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared, too. If you was there, then we just knew you'd care, too.

I don't think so, homey don't play dat.....I been to Compton.....I been to Bed Stuy and Harlem in the 70's.... Finally out the motherfuckin C-P-T Off to other cities and shit No longer just an underground hit Movin thangs... a local nigga made good And made a name off of making tapes for niggaz in the hood And now, let me tell a little story About the places that I been to and the shit that I been through Like fightin and shootouts and bangin and shit All because a nigga made a hit, check it Nineteen-ninety-one, it was double or nothin that a nigga would hit Then we broke out with the funky shit About bitches and niggaz and gettin drunken off that bud I was doing the shit they hadn't heard of But foolish was I to think that it wasn't no other cities like this And that they didn't like this That Compton was the home of a foot in yo ass Where you got blast And now that's just a thing of the past Let me tell ya why firsthand, we did a show up in Oak-land And niggaz was kickin up sand, to them bangin ain't nothin new And slangin ain't nothin new And for every nigga we done shot They done shot two Straight through and on since the sixties before I was born Families of young niggaz mourn So I'm just letting you know That if ya plan to take a trip to the bay Keep your hand on the clip Becaue Oakland... Yeah, I'm telling y'all Oakland... Moving on to St. Louis, where thecountry is fucked With gold teeth int hey mouth, but they still know what's up Where it's hot as a motherfucker Hot enough to make ya cuss That's why I kept my ass on the bus But later on, whenit cooled off we came down and met a couple of friends Who put us up on the St. Louis cap The Smith Center, with Big Bob, Little Steve, Tojo, Biss and Rich and a couple of bitches Then they took us to a man named Gus in a store He put me down with a herringbone and shoes galore That's when I started thinking that this wasn't like home But then they had to prove me wrong Cuz later that night after we did the show We went back to the afterset, and wouldn't ya know Yeah, Bloods and Crips start scrappin and shootin -- in Missouri? Damn, how could this happen? Now St. Louis... Yeah y'all, St. Louis... I don't think they know, they too crazy for their own good They need to stop watchin that "Colors" and "Boyz in the Hood" Too busy claimin Sixties, tryin to be raw And never ever seen the Shaw But now, back to the story that I'm tellin We packed up the tour bus one more time and started bailin When we arrived I saw red and blue sweatsuits When I'm thinkin bout horse dookey and cowboy boots I guess Texas ain't no different from the rest And San Antonio, was just waitin to put us to the test And before it was over the shit got deep A nigga got shot in the face, and was dead in the street Then they came in the club thinkin of scrappin Little did they know that we was packin Yeah, we was puttin em down and squaring the rest, shit I even had to wear the bulletproof vest Now San Antonio... Yeah, San Antonio... After a month on the road We came home and I can safely say That L.A. is a much better place to stay How could a bunch of niggaz in a town like this Have such a big influence on niggaz so far away? But still my story ain't over cuz I got one more to tell And the people of Colorado, they know it well It was all in the news and if you don't remember I had this show I did in Denver With a punk ass promoter in a bunk ass skating rink Bitches was loving it, but niggaz was shovin and shit To the front of the stage to throw their gang signs But I'm getting paid so I didn't pay it no mind Then I poured out my brew onto their face and chest then they start throwin soda, and fuckin up my guests When it was over two niggaz needed stitches Got cracked in they jaw for being punk ass bitches Now Denver... Yeah y'all, Denver... And ya know that Oakland... Yeah y'all St. Louis... Uh-huh, San Antonio... Yeah, and Denver... I thought ya knew...

I've had a lovely internet vacation...still working on the island album challenge. I've had other challenging matters of late... The Daydreamers have been busy in my absence! Gotta get crankin on my picks...I think Floyd will make it in there somewhere... Lucifer Sam, siam cat. Always sitting by your side Always by your side. That cat's something I can't explain. Ginger, ginger, Jennifer Gentle you're a witch. You're the left side He's the right side. Oh, no! That cat's something I can't explain. Lucifer go to sea. Be a hip cat, be a ship's cat. Somewhere, anywhere. That cat's something I can't explain. At night prowling sifting sand. Hiding around on the ground. He'll be found when you're around. That cat's something I can't explain.

There's a cat prowling through the streets at nightAnd she's black and her eyes are burning yellow Fierce and bright The lights are darkened, Senses sharpened, Wide awake As she acts out her past of Jungle days When the night was her friend in many other Different ways It gave protection Of detection By her prey With a sway and swing she walks away And the look in her eye it never seems To say The way she's feeling No revealing, Black cat ways

Bruuuuuuuuuce will fix that.... Catlong sighs, holdin' Kitty's black tooth She left to marry some top cat, ain't it the cold truth? And there hasn't been a tally since Sally left the alley Since Sally left with Big Pretty, things have got pretty thin It's tight on this fence since them young dudes are musclin' in Jack Knife cries 'cause Baby's in a bundle She goes runnin' nightly, lightly through the jungle And them tin cans are explodin' out of the 90-degree heat Cat somehow lost his baby down on Bleecker Street It's sad but it sure is true Cat shrugs his shoulders, sits back and sighs Catlong lies back-bent on a trash can Flashin' lights that cut the night, dude in the white says he's the man Well, you better move fast when you're young, or you're not around Cat somehow lost his Kitty in the city pound So get right, get tight, get down Who's that down at the end of the alley? She's been gone so long Here she comes, here she comes Here she comes, here she comes Kitty's back in town, here she comes now Kitty's back in town Cat knows Kitty's been untrue and that she left him for a city dude Well, she's so soft, she's so blue When he looks into her eyes, he just sits back and sighs Ooh, what can I do, ooh, what can I do? Ooh, what can I do, ooh, what can I do? Alright Ooh alright, ooh alright Ooh alright, ooh alright

Tuesdays that are Mondays in disguise make for an interesting office day... Have a great evening rrrgrrr and all others on da dus. Said Tommy the Cat as he reeled back to clear whatever foreign matter May have nestled its way into his mighty throat Many a fat alley rat had met its demise while staring point blank down The cavernous barrel of this awesome prowling machine Truly a wonder of nature this urban predator Tommy the Cat had many a story to tell But it was a rare occasion such as this that he did She came slidin' down the alleyway like butter drippin' off a hot biscuit The aroma, the mean scent, was enough to arouse suspicion in even the Oldest of tigers that hung around the hot spot in those days The sight was beyond belief Many a head snapped for double--even triple--takes as this vivacious Feline made her her way into the delta of the alleyway where the most Virile of the young tabbies were known to hang out They hung in droves Such a multitude of masculinity could only be found in one place And that was O'Malley's Alley The air was thick with cat calls (no pun intended) But not even a muscle in her neck did twitch as she sauntered up into The heart of the alleyway She knew what she wanted She was lookin' for that stud bull She was looking for that he cat And that was me Tommy the Cat is my name and I say unto thee Say, baby, do you want to lay down with me? Say, baby, do you want to lay down by my side? Ah, baby, do you want to lay down with me? Say, baby? Say, baby?

heard the announcement....for whatever reason Buffalo has gotten Jerry, the Dead, Furthur, Phil n Ratdog on a regular basis.....will likely go, its only 20 minutes from the house.....but it's getting like the Beach Boys already.....maybe I'm just getting old.....yeah, that's it..... Chicago has been a blessing and a curse.....since then been to the Stones, Eagles, Commander Cody and Grass is Dead, only the Commander and Grass is Dead really moved me.....but they were in a bar that held 100 or so....I have been spoiled by FTW, the music, the musicianship, the spectacle.....the fireworks, the friends....the magic.... really excited about McCartney in October though..... will likely stream whatever is left of LOCKN' since today's weather cancelation....well wishes to Hanlon, Geeky, Scotty and Rosalie..... TTB Mad Dogs with Leon Russell, can't wait..... ok just to break from tradition....in honor of Dead and Co.....and little Johnny.... A new teacher was trying to make use of her psychology courses. She started her class by saying, "Everyone who thinks they're stupid, stand up!" After a few seconds, Little Johnny stood up. The teacher said, "Do you think you're stupid, Little Johnny?" "No, ma'am, but I hate to see you standing there all by yourself!"

Johnny, angry Johnny This is Jezebel in Hell I wanna kill you I wanna blow you Away I wanna kill you I wanna blow you Away I can do it to you gently I can do it with an animal's grace I can do it with precision I can do it with gourmet taste But either way Either, either way I wanna kill you I wanna blow you Away I can do it to your mind I can do it to your face I can do it with integrity I can do it with disgrace But either way Either way I wanna kill you I wanna blow you Away Johnny (Johnny) Angry Johnny This is (This is) Jezebel in Hell Johnny (Johnny) Angry Johnny This is (This is) Jezebel in Hell I can do it in a church I can do it any time or place I can do it like an angel To quiet down your rage But either way Either, oh, either way I wanna kill you I wanna blow you Away I can do it in the water I can do it on dry land I can do it with instruments I can do it with my own bare hands But either way Either way, you know where it stands I wanna kill you I wanna blow you Away Johnny (Johnny) Angry Johnny This is (This is) Jezebel in Hell Johnny, oh, my Johnny Where'd your pleasure go When the pain came through you? Where'd your happiness go? This verse is running you around now Getting you down now Where's your pleasure now, Johnny? Where has your pleasure gone now? Johnny (Johnny) Angry Johnny This is (This is) Jezebel in Hell Johnny (Johnny) Angry Johnny This is (This is) Jezebel in Hell Johnny I wanna blow you Oh, Johnny Away Johnny I wanna blow you Johnny Everybody here, it doesn't feel okay Johnny The Dead and Co show is like 3 miles from my house...I've seen the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tool x2, Alison Kraus & Union Station, Sting and Gnarles Barkley in the same venue. The Dead played at the old hockey rink the Arena and now the new hockey rink, the Kiel Center, I mean the Saavis Center, I mean Scott Trade Center...you know how it goes.

Johnny could only sing one noteAnd the note he sings was this Ah! Poor Johnny one-note sang out with "gusto" And just overlorded the place Poor Johnny one-note yelled willy nilly Until he was bleu in the face For holding one note was his ace Couldn't hear the brass Couldn't hear the drum He was in a class By himself, by gum! Poor Johnny one-note Got in Aida Indeed a great chance to be brave He took his one note Howled like the North Wind Brought forth wind that made critics rave, While Verdi turned round in his grave! Couldn't hear the flute Or the big trombone Ev'ry one was mute Johnny stood alone. Cats and dogs stopped yapping Lions in the zoo All were jealous of Johnny's big trill Thunder claps stopped clapping, Traffic ceased its roar, And they tell us Niag'ra stood still. He stopped the train whistles, Boat whistles, steam whistles, Cop whistles, all whistles bowed to his skill Sing Johnny One-Note, Sing out with "gusto" and Just overwhelm all the crowd Ah! So sing Johnny One-Note, out loud!! Sing Johnny One-Note Sing Johnny One-Note out loud!

Someone wants to blow up the planet Johnny wants to find out why Johnny did a show in St. Louis Love came through the sky. Oh yeah, they were camped out, Waiting for the sun to rise Oh yeah, Johnny sang out Love into the sky. Johnny found a place out in Texas Waiting for him to come Made himself a reservation And hope came, in the gun. Oh yeah, he was flying, Waiting for the sun to rise Oh yeah, color by numbers Waiting for the sun to rise. Johnny did some time in the army Johnny did a stint in Vietnam. Now he can't forget it, His mind is confused, slipping from his twisted hand. Oh yeah, he's still back there With one hand on the gun Oh yeah, he's still back there Waiting for the rising sun. Now Johnny likes to go down the highway The wind singing in his ears Right up as most things go whirring by By day everything looks clear. Oh yeah, Johnny ride on Gonna find a special home Oh yeah, down the highway Looking for the rising sun.

Not that there's anything wrong with that..... Johnny what's the deal boy? Is your love for real boy? When the lights are low You never hold me close Well I saw you today boy Walking with the gay boys God it hurt me so Now I gotta know Johnny are you queer? 'Cause when I see you Dancing with your friends I can't help wondering Where I stand I'm so afraid I'll lose you If I can't seduce you Is there something wrong? Johnny come on strong Oh why are you so weird boy? Johnny are you queer boy? When I make a play You push me away Johnny are you queer? 'Cause when I see you Dancing with your friends I can't help wondering Where I stand Johnny you're forsaking A love you could be taking I wanna give it to you But you never come through Oh why are you so weird boy? Johnny are you queer boy? When you asked for a date I thought that you were straight Johnny are you queer? Oh Johnny are you queer boy? Johnny are you queer? Tell me, Johnny are you queer? Tell me, Johnny are you queer? Johnny are you queer?

I just like Johnny...that's my Grandpa's name. Home in the valley Home in the city Home isn't pretty Ain't no home for me Home in the darkness Home on the highway Home isn't my way Home will never be Burn out the day Burn out the night I can't see no reason to put up a fight I'm living for giving the devil his due And I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you Time is the essence Time is the season Time ain't no reason Got no time to slow Time everlasting Time to play B-sides Time ain't on my side Time I'll never know Burn out the day Burn out the night I'm not the one to tell you what's wrong or what's right I've seen suns that were freezin' and lives that were through Well I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you Burn out the day Burn out the night I can't see no reason to put up a fight I'm living for giving the devil his due And I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you

True dat....Respectable name just doesn't fit Mr. Mayer, makes him seem even younger than he is..... My favorite Johnny song, though every time I hear it, it rips my heart out..... Well they closed down the auto plant in Mahwah late that month Ralph went out lookin' for a job but he couldn't find none He came home too drunk from mixin' Tanqueray and wine He got a gun shot a night clerk now they call 'm Johnny 99 Down in the part of town where when you hit a red light you don't stop Johnny's wavin' his gun around and threatenin' to blow his top When an off duty cop snuck up on him from behind Out in front of the Club Tip Top they slapped the cuffs on Johnny 99 Well the city supplied a public defender but the judge was Mean John Brown He came into the courtroom and stared poor Johnny down Well the evidence is clear gonna let the sentence son fit the crime Prison for 98 and a year and we'll call it even Johnny 99 A fistfight broke out in the courtroom they had to drag Johnny's girl away His mama stood up and shouted "judge don't take my boy this way" Well son you got a statement you'd like to make Before the bailiff comes to forever take you away Now judge I got debts no honest man could pay The bank was holdin' my mortgage and they was takin' my house away Now I ain't sayin' that makes me an innocent man But it was more 'n all this that put that gun in my hand Well your honor I do believe I'd be better off dead And if you can take a man's life for the thoughts that's in his head Then won't you sit back in that chair and think it over judge one more time And let 'em shave off my hair and put me on that execution line

Ok, one more Johnny song... and a Johnny 5 quote: "Hey lazer lips...your momma was a snow blower!" Deep down Louisiana close to New Orleans, Way back up in the woods among the evergreens There stood a log cabin made of earth and wood, Where lived a country boy named of Johnny B. Goode Who never ever learned to read or write so well, But he could play the guitar like ringing a bell. [Chorus:] Go Go Go Johnny Go Go Go Johnny B. Goode He use to carry his guitar in a gunny sack Or sit beneath the trees by the railroad track. Oh, the engineers used to see him sitting in the shade, Strumming with the rhythm that the drivers made. The People passing by, they would stop and say Oh my that little country boy could play [Chorus] His mother told him someday you will be a man, And you would be the leader of a big old band. Many people coming from miles around To hear you play your music when the sun go down Maybe someday your name will be in lights Saying Johnny B. Goode tonight.

Ev'ry mornin' at the mine you could see him arriveHe stood six foot six and weighed two forty five Kinda broad at the shoulder and narrow at the hip And everybody knew ya didn't give no lip to Big John. Big John, Big John, Big Bad John (Big John) Nobody seemed to know where John called home He just drifted into town and stayed all alone He didn't say much, kinda quiet and shy And if you spoke at all, you just said "Hi" to Big John. Somebody said he came from New Orleans Where he got in a fight over a Cajun Queen And a crashin' blow from a huge right hand Sent a Loosiana fellow to the Promised Land, Big John Big John, Big John, Big Bad John (Big John) Then came the day at the bottom of the mine When a timber cracked and men started cryin' Miners were prayin' and hearts beat fast And everybody thought that they'd Breathed their last-'cept John Through the dust and the smoke of this man-made hell Walked a giant of a man that the miners knew well Grabbed a saggin' timber, gave out with a groan And like a giant oak tree he just stood there alone, Big John Big John, Big John, Big Bad John (Big John) And with all of his strength he gave a mighty shove Then a miner yelled out "There's a light up above!" And twenty men scrambled from a would-be grave Now there's only one left down there to save, Big John With jacks and timbers they started back down Then came that rumble way down in the ground And then smoke and gas belched out of that mine Everybody knew it was the end of the line for Big John Big John, Big John, Big Bad John (Big John) Now, they never reopened that worthless pit They just placed a marble stand in front of it These few words are written on that stand "At the bottom of this mine lies one hell of a man, Big John" Big John, Big John, Big Bad John (Big John) and Goodnight Miami....goodnight....

true on so many levels... Happy Trails! John Brown went off to war to fight on a foreign shore His mama sure was proud of him He stood so straight and tall in his uniform and all His mama's face broke out into a grin "Oh, son, you look so fine, I'm glad you're a son of mine Make me proud to know you own a gun Do what the captain says, lot of medals you will get We'll put them on the wall when you get home" That old train pulled out, John's ma began to shout Tellin' ev'ryone in the neighborhood "That's my son that's about to go, he's a soldier now, you know" She made well sure her neighbors understood She got a letter once in a while, her face broke into a smile She showed them to the people from next door They bragged about her son with his uniform and gun And these things you called a good old fashioned war Then the letters ceased to come, for a long time they did not come Ceased to come for about ten months or more Then when letter finally came saying, "Go down and meet the train Your son is coming back from the war" She smiled and she went right down, she looked up and all around She did not see her soldier son in sight When all the people passed, she saw her son at last When she did she could not believe her eyes Oh, his face was all shot up and his hand were blown away And he wore a metal brace around his waist He whispered kind of slow, in a voice she didn't know And she couldn't even recognize his face "Oh, tell me, my darling son, tell me what they've done How is it that you come to be this way?" He tried his best to talk but his mouth could hardly move And his mother had to turn her face away "Don't you remember, ma, when I went off to war You thought it was the best thing I could do? I was on the battleground, you were home, acting proud You weren't there standing in my shoes And I thought when I was there, Lord, what am I doing here? Tryin' to kill somebody or die tryin' But the thing that scared me most, when my enemy came close I can see that his face looked just like mine" And I couldn't help but think, through the thunder rolling and stink I was just a puppet in a play And through the roar and smoke, this string, it finally broke And a cannon ball blew my eyes away" As he turned away to go, his mother was acting slow Seein' the metal brace that helped him stand But as he turned to leave, he called his mother close And he dropped his medals down into her hand Been watching Ken Burns the Civil War this week... Have a great evening.

Fridays are always good especially after a four day work week....Scotty and Ramble made it to Lockn...hoping the weather holds... All aboard.... I hear the train a comin' It's rolling round the bend And I ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when, I'm stuck in Folsom prison, and time keeps draggin' on But that train keeps a rollin' on down to San Antone.. When I was just a baby my mama told me. Son, Always be a good boy, don't ever play with guns. But I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die When I hear that whistle blowing, I hang my head and cry.. I bet there's rich folks eating in a fancy dining car They're probably drinkin' coffee and smoking big cigars. Well I know I had it coming, I know I can't be free But those people keep a movin' And that's what tortures me... Well if they freed me from this prison, If that railroad train was mine I bet I'd move it on a little farther down the line Far from Folsom prison, that's where I want to stay And I'd let that lonesome whistle blow my blues away.....

Yes lets hope the weather holds and we dont have another Woodstock 94' kind of scene... Billy, he's down by the railroad tracks Sittin' low in the back seat of his Cadillac Diamond Jackie, she's so intact She falls so softly beneath him Jackie's heels are stacked, Billy's got cleats on his boots Together they're gonna boogaloo down Broadway and come back home with the loot It's midnight in Manhattan, this is no time to get cute It's a mad dog's promenade So walk tall, or baby, don't walk at all Fish lady, fish lady, fish lady, she baits them tenement walls She won't take corner boys, ain't got no money and they're so easy I said, "Hey baby, won't you take my hand, walk me down Broadway I'm a young man and I talk real loud, yeah baby, walk real proud for you So shake it away, so shake away your street life And hook up to the train Hook up to the night train Hook it up, hook up to the, hook up to the train" But I know that she won't take the train No, she won't take the train No, she won't take the train No, she won't take the train She's afraid them tracks are gonna slow her down And when she turns, this boy'll be gone So long, sometimes you just gotta walk on Hey vibes man, hey jazz man, play me your serenade Any deeper blue and you're playin' in your grave Save your notes, don't spend 'em on the blues boy Save your notes, don't spend 'em on the darlin' yearlin' sharp boy Straight for the church note ringin', vibes man sting a trash can Listen to your junk man Listen to your junk man Listen to your junk man Listen to your junk man He's singin', singin', singin', singin' All dressed up in satin, walkin' past the alley Watch out for your junk man Watch out for your junk man Watch out for your junk man

Lockn kicks off in 15 minutes.....and the String Cheese Brothers aka the Doobie Incident starts it all..... Down around the corner A half a mile from here You see them old trains runnin' And you watch them disappear Without love Where would you be now Without love You know I saw Miss Lucy Down along the tracks She lost her home and her family And she won't be comin' back Without love Where would you be now Without love Well the Illinois Central And the Southern Central Freight Gotta keep on pushin' Mama 'Cause you know they're runnin' late Without love Where would you be now - now, now, now Without love Where pistons keep on churnin' And the wheels go 'round and 'round And the steel rails are cold and hard For the miles that they go down Without love Where would you be right now Without love Where would you be now

...Has always been one of my faves! Train roll on, on down the line, Won't you please take me far away? Now I feel the wind blow outside my door, Means I'm, I'm leaving my woman at home. Tuesday's gone with the wind. My baby's gone with the wind again. And I don't know where I'm going. I just want to be left alone. Well, when this train ends I'll try again, But I'm leaving my woman at home. Tuesday's gone with the wind. Tuesday's gone with the wind. Tuesday's gone with the wind. My baby's gone with the wind. Train roll on Tuesday's gone Train roll on many miles from my home, See, I'm riding my blues away. Tuesday, you see, she had to be free But somehow I've got to carry on. Tuesday's gone with the wind. Tuesday's gone with the wind. Tuesday's gone with the wind. My baby's gone with the wind.

The Doobie Cheese Accident was quite impressive, check them out on YouTube.... Listen to that Duquesne whistle blowing Blowing like it's gonna sweep my world away I wanna stop at Carbondale and keep on going That Duquesne train gon' rock me night and day You say I'm a gambler, you say I'm a pimp But I ain't neither one Listen to that Duquesne whistle blowing Sounding like it's on a final run Listen to that Duquesne whistle blowing Blowing like she never blowed before Little light blinking, red light glowing Blowing like she's at my chamber door You smiling through the fence at me Just like you always smiled before Listen to that Duquesne whistle blowing Blowing like she ain't gon' blow no more Can't you hear that Duquesne whistle blowing? Blowing like the sky's gonna blow apart You're the only thing alive that keeps me going You're like a time bomb in my heart I can hear a sweet voice steadily calling Must be the mother of our Lord Listen to that Duquesne whistle blowing Blowing like my woman's on board Listen to that Duquesne whistle blowing Blowing like it's gon' blow my blues away You old rascal, I know exactly where you're going I'll lead you there myself at the break of day I wake up every morning with that woman in my bed Everybody telling me she's gone to my head Listen to that Duquesne whistle blowing Blowing like it's gon' kill me dead Can't you hear that Duquesne whistle blowing? Blowing through another no good town The lights of my native land are glowing I wonder if they'll know me next time 'round I wonder if that old oak tree's still standing That old oak tree, the one we used to climb Listen to that Duquesne whistle blowing Blowing like she's blowing right on time

Go to sleep you weary hoboLet the towns drift slowly by Can't you hear the steel rails hummin'? That's the hobo's lullaby I know your clothes are torn and ragged And your hair is turning gray Lift your head and smile at trouble You'll find peace and rest someday Now don't you worry 'bout tomorrow Let tomorrow come and go Tonight you're in a nice warm boxcar Safe from all that wind and snow I know the police cause you trouble They cause trouble everywhere But when you die and go to Heaven You'll find no policemen there So go to sleep you weary hobo Let the towns drift slowly by Listen to the steel rails hummin' That's a hobo's lullaby

Ridin' on the City of New Orleans Illinois Central Monday morning railFifteen cars and fifteen restless riders Three conductors and twenty-five sacks of mail All along the southbound odyssey the train pulls out of Kankakee And rolls along past houses farms and fields Passing trains that have no name and freight yards full of old black men And the graveyards of the rusted automobiles Good morning, America. I'm your native son I'm the train they call the City of New Orleans I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done my latest holy shit moment....the band Moonalice.....around since 2007.... Who knew.... HOLY SHIT.... they are incredible......

Once upon a time there was an engineer.Drove a locomotive both far and near. Accompanied by a monkey that would sit on a stool Watching everything the engineer would do One day the engineer wanted a bite to eat, He left the monkey sitting on the driver's seat, The monkey pulled the throttle, the locomotive jumped the gun And did 80 miles an hour down the mainline run. Big locomotive right on time, big locomotive coming down the line. Big locomotive No. 99, left the engineer with a worried mind. The engineer called up the dispatcher on the phone, To tell him all about his locomotive was gone. Dispatcher got on the wire, switch operator to the right, Cause the monkey's got the main line sewed up tight. The switch operator got the message on time, Said there's a Northbound livin' on the same main line, Open up the switch I'm gonna let him through the hole, Cause the monkey's got the locomotive under control. Big locomotive right on time, big locomotive coming down the line. Big locomotive No. 99, left the engineer with a worried mind.

the monkey chewed tobacco on the street car line-the line broke, the monkey got choked and they all went to heaven in a little row boat. Stop that train: I'm leavin' - today! Stop that train: I'm leavin' - anyway! Stop that train: I'm leavin'. And I said: It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong; I said, it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong. All my good life I've been a lonely man, Teachin' my people who don't understand; And even though I tried my best, I still can't find no happiness. So I got to say: Stop that train: I'm leavin' - oh, baby now! Stop that train: I'm leavin' - don't care what you say! Stop that train: I'm leavin'. And I said: It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong; Said, it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong. Some goin' east; and-a some goin' west, Some stand aside to try their best. Some livin' big, but the most is livin' small:: They just can't even find no food at all. I mean, stop it: Stop that train: I'm leavin' - leavin', mm-hmm. Stop that train: I'm leavin' - I don't mind! Stop that train: I'm leavin'. And I said: It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong; I said it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong. Stop that train: I'm leavin' - leavin'! Stop that train: I'm leavin' - can't take it! Stop that train: I'm leavin' - got to be better! It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong; I said it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong. [fadeout] Big Hike tomorrow...climbing from the bottom to the top of the highest point in Missouri. Wish us luck!

Oh man, it was an interesting hike on Saturday...lets just say we are lucky that search and rescue wasn't involved. Matt and I are safe and in one piece, and that is the Monday morning miracle! If you see something that looks like a star And it's shooting up out of the ground And your head is spinning from a loud guitar And you just can't escape from the sound Don't worry too much, it'll happen to you We were children once, playing with toys And the thing that you're hearing is only the sound of The low spark of high-heeled boys The percentage you're paying is too high priced While you're living beyond all your means And the man in the suit has just bought a new car From the profit he's made on your dreams But today you just read that the man was shot dead By a gun that didn't make any noise But it wasn't the bullet that laid him to rest, was The low spark of high-heeled boys If you had just a minute to breathe And they granted you one final wish Would you ask for something like another chance? Or something sim'lar as this? Don't worry too much It'll happen to you As sure as your sorrows are joys And the thing that disturbs you is only the sound of The low spark of high-heeled boys The percentage you're paying is too high priced While you're living beyond all your means And the man in the suit has just bought a new car From the profit he's made on your dreams But today you just read that the man was shot dead By a gun that didn't make any noise But it wasn't the bullet that laid him to rest, was The low spark of high-heeled boys (heeled boys) If I gave you everything that I owned And asked for nothing in return Would you do the same for me as I would for you? Or take me for a ride And strip me of everything, including my pride But spirit is something that no one destroys And the sound that I'm hearing is only the sound The low spark of high-heeled boys (heeled boys)

When you were languishing in rooms I built to file you in And when the wind set down in funnel form and pulled you in I don't need to walk around in circles Walk around in circles, walk around in circles Walk around in Don't need to walk around in circles Walk around in circles, walk around in circles Walk around in And when the ghostly dust of violence traces everything And when the gas runs out, just wreck it, you insured the thing I don't need to walk around in circles Walk around in circles, walk around in circles Walk around in Don't need to walk around in circles Walk around in circles, walk around in circles Walk around in Doom da doom da doom What I'm doing, I'm doing Doom da doom da doom What I'm doing, I'm doing Doom da doom da doom What I'm doing, I'm doing Doom da doom da doom What I'm doing, I'm doing But I can't sigh, now that you made the move It has gone and gone to dogs, lay down on the floor For the right price I can get everything Slip into the car, go driving to the farthest star I don't need to walk around in circles Walk-a, in circles, walk around in circles Walk around in a Don't need to walk around in circles Walk around in circles, walk around in circles Walk around in, walk around in

If you don't know, ask the better half.... ;-) Glad you are ok....next time I will send you a homing pigeon..... Reluctantly crouched at the starting line, Engines pumping and thumping in time. The green light flashes, the flags go up. Churning and burning, they yearn for the cup. They deftly maneuver and muscle for rank, Fuel burning fast on an empty tank. Reckless and wild, they pour through the turns. Their prowess is potent and secretly stearn. As they speed through the finish, the flags go down. The fans get up and they get out of town. The arena is empty except for one man, Still driving and striving as fast as he can. The sun has gone down and the moon has come up, And long ago somebody left with the cup. But he's driving and striving and hugging the turns. And thinking of someone for whom he still burns. He's going the distance. He's going for speed. She's all alone In her time of need. Because he's racing and pacing and plotting the course, He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse, He's going the distance. No trophy, no flowers, no flashbulbs, no wine, He's haunted by something he cannot define. Bowel-shaking earthquakes of doubt and remorse, Assail him, impale him with monster-truck force. In his mind, he's still driving, still making the grade. She's hoping in time that her memories will fade. Cause he's racing and pacing and plotting the course, He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse. The sun has gone down and the moon has come up, And long ago somebody left with the cup. But he's striving and driving and hugging the turns. And thinking of someone for whom he still burns. Cause he's going the distance. He's going for speed. She's all alone In her time of need. Because he's racing and pacing and plotting the course, He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse. He's racing and pacing and plotting the course, He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse. He's going the distance. He's going for speed. He's going the distance.

That one was spot on! Come down off your throne and leave your body alone. Somebody must change. You are the reason I've been waiting so long. Somebody holds the key. [Chorus:] But I'm near the end and I just ain't got the time And I'm wasted and I can't find my way home. Come down on your own and leave your body alone. Somebody must change. You are the reason I've been waiting all these years. Somebody holds the key. [Chorus] But I can't find my way home. But I can't find my way home. But I can't find my way home. But I can't find my way home. Still I can't find my way home, And I ain't done nothing wrong, But I can't find my way home. Have a great evening! One down 4 to go...

To Tuesday! Cold and misty morning, I heard a warning borne in the air About an age of power where no one had an hour to spare, Where the seeds have withered, silent children shivered, in the cold Now their faces captured in the lenses of the jackals for gold. I'll be there I'll be there I will be there. Suffering in silence, they've all been betrayed. They hurt them and they beat them, in a terrible way. Praying for survival at the end of the day. There is no compassion for those who stay. I'll be there I'll be there I will be there There must be someone who can set them free: To take their sorrow from this odyssey To help the helpless and the refugee To protect what's left of humanity. Can't you see Can't you see Can't you see I'll be there I'll be there I will be there; To heal their sorrow To beg and borrow Fight tomorrow. --- Step inside! Hello! We've a most amazing show You'll enjoy it all we know Step inside! Step inside! We've got thrills and shocks, supersonic fighting cocks. Leave your hammers at the box Come inside! Come inside! Fear that rattles in men's ears And rears its hideous head Dread... Death... in the wind... When I'm nervous I have this thing, yeah, I talk too muchSometimes I just can't shut the hell up It's like I need to tell someone, anyone who'll listen And that's where I seem to fuck up Yeah, I forget about the consequences For a minute there I lose my senses And in the heat of the moment my mouth starts going The words start flowing, oh But I never meant to hurt you I know it's time that I learnt to Treat the people I love like I wanna be loved This is a lesson learnt I hate that I let you down And I feel so bad about it I guess karma comes back around 'Cause now I'm the one that's hurting, yeah And I hate that I made you think That the trust we have is broken Don't tell me you can't forgive me 'Cause nobody's perfect No, no, no, no, no, no, no, nobody's perfect, no If I could turn back the hands of time I swear I never would have crossed that line I should have kept it between us But, no, I went and told the whole world how I'm feeling, oh So I sit and I realize With these tears falling from my eyes I gotta change if I wanna keep you forever I promise that I'm gonna try But I never meant to hurt you I know it's time that I learnt to Treat the people I love like I wanna be loved This is a lesson learnt I hate that I let you down And I feel so bad about it I guess karma comes back around 'Cause now I'm the one that's hurting, yeah And I hate that I made you think That the trust we have is broken So don't tell me you can't forgive me 'Cause nobody's perfect No, no, no, no, no, no, no, nobody's perfect I'm not a saint, no, not at all, but what I did, it wasn't cool But I swear that I'll never do that again to you, oh I'm not a saint, no, not at all, but what I did, it wasn't cool But I swear that I'll never do that again to you, yeah I hate that I let you down And I feel so bad about it I guess karma comes back around 'Cause now I'm the one that's hurting, yeah And I hate that I made you think That the trust we have is broken So don't tell me you can't forgive me 'Cause nobody's perfect, no I hate that I let you down And I feel so bad about it I guess karma comes back around 'Cause now I'm the one that's hurting, yeah And I hate that I made you think That the trust we have is broken Don't tell me you can't forgive me 'Cause nobody's perfect, yeah, yeah, whoa Don't tell me, don't tell Don't tell me you can't forgive me No, no, no, no 'Cause nobody's perfect, no

I know we're just like old friends We just can't pretend That lovers make amends We are reasons so unreal We can't help but feel that something has been lost But please you know you're just like me Next time I promise we'll be Perfect Perfect Perfect strangers down the line Lovers out of time Memories unwind So far I still know who you are But now I wonder who I was... Angel, you know it's not the end We'll always be good friends The letters have been sent on So please, you always were so free You'll see, I promise we'll be Perfect Perfect strangers when we meet Strangers on the street Lovers while we sleep Perfect You know this has to be We always were so free We promised that we'd be Perfect

Made a wrong turn once or twiceDug my way out, blood and fire Bad decisions, that's alright Welcome to my silly life Mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood Miss 'No way, it's all good' It didn't slow me down. Mistaken, always second guessing Underestimated, look I'm still around Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel Like you're less than fucking perfect Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel Like you're nothing, you're fucking perfect to me You're so mean (so mean) when you talk (when you talk) About yourself. You were wrong. Change the voices (change the voices) in your head (in your head) Make them like you instead. So complicated, Look how we all make it. Filled with so much hatred Such a tired game It's enough, I've done all I could think of Chased down all my demons I've seen you do the same (Oh oh) Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel Like you're less than fucking perfect Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel Like you're nothing, you're fucking perfect to me The whole world's scared, so I swallow the fear The only thing I should be drinking is an ice cold beer So cool in lying and we try, try, try but we try too hard And it's a waste of my time. Done looking for the critics, cause they're everywhere They don't like my jeans, they don't get my hair Exchange ourselves and we do it all the time Why do we do that, why do I do that (why do I do that)? (Yeah! Oh!) Oh, pretty, pretty, pretty Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel Like you're less than fucking perfect Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel Like you're nothing, you're fucking perfect to me (You're perfect, you're perfect) Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel Like you're nothing, you're fucking perfect to me.

Further on up the roadSomeone's gonna hurt you like you hurt me. Further on up the road Someone's gonna hurt you like you hurt me. Further on up the road, Baby, just you wait and see. You gotta reap just what you sow; That old saying is true. You gotta reap just what you sow; That old saying is true. Just like you mistreat someone, Someone's gonna mistreat you. You been laughing, pretty baby, Someday you're gonna be crying. You been laughing, pretty baby, Someday you're gonna be crying. Further on up the road You'll find out I wasn't lying. Further on up the road Someone's gonna hurt you like you hurt me. Further on up the road Someone's gonna hurt you like you hurt me. Further on up the road, Baby, just you wait and see.

Well, you wake up in the mornin', you hear the work bell ring And they march you to the table to see the same old thing Ain't no food upon the table, and no pork up in the pan But you better not complain, boy, you get in trouble with the man [Chorus:] Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me Let the Midnight Special shine a everlovin' light on me Yonder come miss Rosie, how in the world did you know? By the way she wears her apron, and the clothes she wore Umbrella on her shoulder, piece of paper in her hand She come to see the gov'nor, she wants to free her man [Chorus] If you're ever in Houston, well, you better do the right You better not gamble, there, you better not fight, at all Or the sheriff will grab ya and the boys will bring you down The next thing you know, boy, Oh! You're prison bound [Chorus] [Chorus]
