    Since things seem to have gone a bit haywire with the old New Vines topic, I'm starting a new one. Here's the basic info on what the deal is with vines, for those just joining us: With collaboration from various kind folks in the Dead.net vining community, our own erickat prepared this handy guide explaining how vining works hereabouts.     This vine will be on a FLASH DRIVE, which I hope to have returned to me once this vine runs its course. I don't want to do a whole spiel so I'll just say to be responsible and not sign up if that is too much for you. The drive contains the rest of 1978 (10/24, 10/26, 10/27, 10/28, 11/3 and the Merl show from 10/3). It also has the 2 requested shows from 1980 (3/7 and 3/8) (I was going to put more 1980 on but I couldn't even fit all the 1983 so that will have to wait). And finally it has all of 1983 through 11/26, but not including 1/24 (I just have the perfectly fine SBD, which is perfectly fine so long as Jerry's guitar doesn't interest you, as it disappears for MOST of the show). We are working on finding the AUD for 1/24, not to mention upgrades for a handful of other shows that could probably use them. We need help with this so if you would like to help please let me know.     3 discs, most of the circulating shows from the year (I had problems with some shows from Disc 4 so hopefully I can entice Wilbags to resend me those shows, and maybe another year, and include them on a later vine). I've listened to the first half dozen shows and spot-checked the rest. If you only want the absolute best sounding shows from the year, just copy the 2 star shows. If you want more, also copy the 1 star shows (and I recommend you do so).     Discs from Wilbags arrived yday, 4 discs, 1st disc copied fine, converted and put 1st 3 shows on I-Pod. I will listen to one or two today and over the weekend, spot check the rest and post the vine by next week.

I'm certainly seeing a raft of abusive posts from you, but otherwise I'm having trouble identifying the problem. When you go to My Recent Topics, is this topic not showing up? When you go to The Vineyard, is it not appearing as sticky at the top like it oughta? Since other people seem to be able to vine without swearing at me, I'm at a bit of a loss here.

accessing the site with his cell phone if that makes any difference. I know I had trouble with windows explorer for a while. At the bottom of the screen there was no word verification and no way to post. I have since went to firefox most of the time and haven't had any trouble. I noticed windows sent out an update to fix the problem the other day. There just a little behind.

Perhaps I need new glasses... If I go to the forum and select Vineyard, I do not see the 'Meta-Topic' as a sticky in the Vineyard. I can see it if I go to it directly or search for it in 'recent posts'. Also the 'Dead Beat Vine' does not show up under the Vineyard... once again I have to go to it directly or search for it in 'recent posts'. is quite active, and the My Recent Topics page is probably the most reliable path. I'll pass this to the tech guys; the metatopic actually IS defined as sticky, so there may be an issue with how many sticky topics can appear at the top of the page.

now i can see the latest post , i still do not see the metetopic anywhere,, i am using windows 7 on my laptop and i havnt even tryed to get here on my cell phone since i got this computer.. but seriousley last week or whenever it was i could not find the latest posting at all .. i dunno what is going on but i am sorry for the swearing thing ..

http://www.dead.net/forum/1978-patchwork-quilt-vine has been updated not in vineyard - not in recent posts either.... not yet at least I get a timeout error {{ Gateway Timeout The proxy server did not receive a timely response from the upstream server. Dead.net isn't doing anything in regards to the SOPA internet blackout today.Freedom of speech and expression seem like important values within our community. So I am sitting on all these juicy recordings from November and December of 1979. As I look at the Vinedex, there are a lot of holes in these two months. There are some really Grate shows that have never been vined, as well as some shows in vines that are no longer in circulation. I have been a fairly active member this past year and I know that I have not seen either the "Dec 79 Indiana Uptown Toodleloo Vine" or the "1979 Fall part 2 Vine" anywhere near the front of the forum. These two vines featured some exceptional Grateful Dead and I would like to get them back in the mix. To my surprise the 12/1/79 Stanley Theatre Pittsburgh show has never been available here in the Vineyard!?! This is one of my favorite shows from 1979 and everytime I walk past the Stanley I think of how blessed the venue is. This is also the same venue where Bob Marley played his last concert on 9/23/80. The name has now been changed to The Benedum but it is the same hollowed building. Anyone that isn't familiar with this 12/1 show, do some research. A Grate show from open to close but things get real crazy out of the He's Gone Jam in the second set. Wow!! Makes the hair on my arm stand up everytime. One last thing, be sure to listen to the matrix of 12/11 KC. The segue between Lost Sailor>Saint is awesome and unique. Enough. Here's the vine. This vine is not a complete GD rehearsals list. It is, however, made up of rehearsals and some oddities not already in the vineyard. 1/1/82 for example is an unreleased/unbroadcast radio play called "The Bugs" which features Mickey Hart, Barry Melton, Bill Graham, and others. It is similar to a "War of the Worlds" kinda thing.2/21/92 is one of my favorites. They are learning/rehearsing SMR, my favorite 90s GD song. Hey Now, This video is another GREAT, crystal clear, beautiful show and is on one DVD. I can't believe that I am blessed with a copy so I had to spread the cheer. As always, if you don't want to wait for the vine I am always open to trades. Bobby Weir, Scaring The Children DVD 1-5-11 Jam Cruise FL.
